Community Index

Community Index

The Israel Association of Community Centers (IACC) has developed a Community Index to measure success in community building. The index is based on a survey that measures residents’ perceptions and attitudes toward their community. The index serves as a sound, data-based tool to tailor programming to meet the specific needs of each local group of residents at their community center.

The survey examines six indicators of perceptions of community: connectivity, trust and mutuality, significance, collective action, commitment, and sense of belonging.

The higher the Community Index, the stronger the residents’ sense of quality of life in their community.
