Community Centers

Community Centers

The community centers of the Israel Association of Community Centers (IACC) operate nationwide, with approximately 200 centers and about 1,000 branches, from Dan to Eilat.
They serve people at every stage of life, from early childhood through old age, in both central and peripheral areas, and across all sectors of Israeli society, including Jewish, Arab, Haredi, secular, and religious communities, as well as people with disabilities. This work reflects a deep commitment to building diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities.

Each community center operates as an independent legal entity, either as a municipal corporation (quasi-municipal entity) or as a public benefit company (PBC), with full managerial and operational responsibility, including independent financial management and a separate oversight system.
Every center is governed by a public board composed of representatives of the local authority (40 percent), residents (40 percent), and the IACC (20 percent). This governance model reflects the belief that the community itself is an active partner and leader in managing its affairs, setting policy, and overseeing implementation.

The Israel Community Centers Association supports the centers through a comprehensive professional framework that includes managerial, educational, and community guidance; program development and community-building; staff training and professional development; partnership development; legal and organizational consulting; information systems and infrastructure development; business intelligence (BI) systems; measurement and evaluation; and support in emergency situations and in promoting shared society.

Through this framework, the Association ensures that community centers remain strong, professional, and vital pillars of Israel’s social fabric.
