The public in Israel is quite ignorant of the Ethiopian community's aliya to Israel, how it came about, the aspirations to Zion which motivated them to take such a drastic step, and the great hardships that they underwent, on their long and treacherous march through the deserts of Sudan.

Siach" Discourse"

Building Neighborhood Interactions within a Diverse Urban Community

The pilot Siach program ('discourse' in Heb.), is designed to promote and develop intercultural connections, understanding and mutual acceptance between Ethiopian new immigrants and non-Ethiopian mainstream Israelis on the neighborhood level. It was initially launched as a direct response to the tragic random shooting of an Ethiopian Israeli adolescent by a policeman in May 2019 and the protest demonstrations that followed
